i want to share most of this with just one outfit from her experience
Y’all.
I was in for my second session with Dan today & I hope you’re cool if I just share & get really real for a second
TL/DR: my session today was magnificent
My first session was nearly 2.5 years ago, and it was, metaphorically, my middle finger. Yeah, I made & gifted a book to my husband, but I was (and still am) hellbent on loving and celebrating my body at its biggest right in the ugly face of a culture that doesn’t. It was so freeing and so empowering. I loved every second of it. It was perfect; he totally captured me in that season of life.
That aggressive self-love journey and learning experience led me to places & experiences I couldn’t imagine, and I’ve learned so much about listening to and appreciating this body of mine. It’s more than any weight lost - it’s about how my body and I became friends and worked together to do stuff, and I’m proud of it. Not because it’s smaller, but because it’s mine and I get to do fun sh*t with it!
That aside, I’ve had a real time with body image disturbance in recent weeks/months - and I almost didn’t even realize it. I wound up buying clothes in the wrong sizes and it started revealing itself to me. I wasn’t really seeing myself as I am, but still kind of as I was.
Which brings me to todays session
I knew I was ready because I wanted to celebrate how far I’d come, but it really came at the perfect time. I feel like Dan saw me as I am yet again, and caught me fully in this current season, too. I feel celebrated, respected, hyped, and powerful. We laughed so much and I had FUN. It felt good and I know self-love is serious business, but it was-it was just fun!

Those of you who know already know - Dan’s the most genuine & real person, so honest in his encouragement and talented at what he does. An absolute professional, but also, human, funny, and kind. He’s the type of person who believes in you so much you start to believe in yourself. We all need that friend & I’m grateful Dan uses his gifts to show us ourselves, to show me myself. Again
And I couldn’t go without mentioning Jessica! Jessica did my hair and make up, and she totally got me. I’ve had my make up done before, and felt like I wasn’t understood fully or heard, but Jessica totally did. Hours later and I’m still in my eyelashes and everything because she made me feel so pretty!
